What you like most about your job/position:

My favorite thing about my current position is that it is always changing and evolving.  I have the opportunity to manage numerous areas and to be a part of changes and improvements within each one.  Working in multiple areas and on all three shifts, also allows me the opportunity to work with a variety of people.  My favorite part about working at Hormel Foods, is the culture of our company.  Hormel is based on great products, great people and great values.  It is easy to be invested when you are continually supported and encouraged to innovate, improve and develop.

What advice would you give to current students:

-Study Abroad! Some of my most beneficial undergraduate experiences were a product of traveling abroad through the College of Ag and Life Sciences.  Don’t miss out on all of the great programs they offer!

-Utilize Career Services and Science with Practice opportunities.  Iowa State allows students so many resources to gain experience and puts them face to face with a vast number of esteemed companies.  Take advantage of these on-campus career fairs, research opportunities and Science with Practice courses.

-Get involved. With the substantial number of clubs available on Iowa State’s campus, find an organization you are interested in that will provide career related experience.

-Find a career and a company that you can be proud of.  Agriculture and Science, both offer so many challenging and interesting career options.  Find your fit and don’t be afraid to step out of your comfort zone and go after your dream job!
