Name:
Kelley Glanz
Title and Company:
Agri-Finance and Crop Insurance Specialist at AgVantage FS
Hometown:
Manchester, IA
Major and Graduation Date:
Public Service and Administration in Agriculture (PSA) and International Agriculture; (Minor in Agricultural Business), December 2014
Major Job/Position Responsibilities:

I cover 15 counties in eastern/northeast Iowa where I provide different financing options to customers including financing for inputs, application, fuel, and rent.  I work with our sales reps to secure the sale and keep accounts from going past due.  I also sell crop insurance to help farmers mitigate risk.

What you like most about your job/position:

I enjoy being able to go and visit farmers every day of my job and help them to stay in business, especially in the current farm economy with low commodity prices.  Although I deal with only a handful of financing programs, each situation and farm is different.  I enjoy getting to know farmers and building trusting relationships with them.

What advice would you give to current students:

Get involved, network, and do summer internships!!  Getting involved is how you meet people, make lasting friendships, and make connections.  Networking opportunities are at your fingertips in college, take advantage of them!  Connections made through networking can last long beyond your college years.  Summer internships provide connections as well as real world experience.  Knowledge and experience gained during internships are great to draw on for job interviews.  Don’t be afraid to go outside your comfort zone for an internship.  Sometimes those experiences are the ones where you learn the most!
