Ryan Bristle
Title and Company:
Columbus District Sales Rep at Caterpillar Inc.
Ogden, IA
Major and Graduation Date:
Agricultural Studies, December 2001
Major Job/Position Responsibilities:

As a Caterpillar district sales rep I call on Caterpillar dealers in Michigan, Ohio, Indiana and Kentucky and am responsible for over $30 million in yearly sales. Currently I specialize in Work Tools (attachments) for all Cat construction machines and Material Handlers for industrial markets. Cat dealers are critical to our distribution excellence, and as a field rep I provide product training, sales and commercial support to our dealers to drive incremental sales to Cat's end user customers.

What you like most about your job/position:

I have always been a people person and my job allows me to interact with hundreds of dealer reps and customers throughout the year. I love machinery and even though I grew up around farm machinery the construction equipment industry brings new and exciting challenges and opportunities. Caterpillar also provides many opportunities for working anywhere in the world, and I am excited to explore those possibilities in the years to come.

What advice would you give to current students:

First of all, make the most out of your time in college. Make sure you enjoy your time at ISU but most importantly use it to your advantage. There are limitless opportunities available such as study abroad trips, internships, and networking with others through campus clubs or organizations. Seek out those that interest you, get involved and become a leader. Your involvement in multiple activities will show prospective employers that you are motivated and capable of working with others.

On a final note, dream big. The world is a big place! Keep an open mind as you think about your career and what lies ahead. You never know where you might end up!
