Describe your internship responsibilities:
We were assigned a project over ileitis surveillance, our responsibilities were:
- Collecting accurate oral fluid and fecal samples
- Working with customers to plan which barns we would sample
- Submitting those samples to the ISU Veterinary Diagnostic Lab
- Conduct a follow-up meeting with what we learned from the information we collected
- Putting together a final report of project
What did you enjoy most about this internship?
I enjoyed being able to work with large swine producers across the state and making new relationships with those customers. I also enjoyed the freedom and responsibility we had to make sure we coordinated all our information with systems and their growers as well as our manager.
How has this experience impacted your future career plans?
This experience has made me realize I really enjoy sales and I will be on the search for a sales position for next spring.
What resources did you utilize to obtain this internship?
I found the Zoetis internship opportunity on CyHire and was able to utilize the meeting rooms within the career services office for my interview with them.
What advice would you offer to other students seeking similar internships?
Some advice I would offer to other students would be to be confident and go for whatever company you want to work for. Each experience is a good one even if, in the end, you find out it may not be your cup of tea.
